In January-September 2019, the top three airline companies by the number of passengers operating in Georgia are Wizz Air, Turkish Airlines and Georgian Airways, announces the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency (GCAA).
The top ten airline companies by the number of passengers operating in Georgia are the following:
- Wizz Air – 592,988 passengers (15%)
- Turkish Airlines – 443,932 passengers (11%)
- Georgian Airways – 435,208 passengers (11%)
- Ural Airlines – 190,341 passengers (5%)
- Pobeda Airlines – 180,684 passengers (4%)
- Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) – 168,672 passengers (4%)
- Fly Dubai – 166,259 passengers (4%)
- Pegasus – 135,494 passengers (3%)
- Air Arabia – 107,535 passengers (3%)
- SkyUp Airlines – 115,070 passengers (3%)
In January-September 2019 Georgian airline companies served 488,317 passengers (12 per cent), while foreign airline companies served 3,569,002 passengers (88 per cent).
In the first nine months of 2019 Georgian airports served 4,139,955 passengers in total.
Georgian airports served 583,104 passengers in August 2019, which is 11 per cent less compared to the same period of last year, United Airports of Georgia announces.
Georgia’s five airports – three international (Tbilisi, Batumi and Kutaisi) and two local (Mestia and Ambrolauri) – served 571,848 passengers in July 2019, which is a 7.3 per cent decrease in comparison to last year, says United Airports of Georgia.
The total number of passengers served by Georgia’s three international airports amounted to 4,073,959 in 2017. With 12 percent, Turkish Airlines tops the list of the most popular airline companies operating in Georgia.
The record increase was mainly due to adding new, low-cost flights to European cities. 187 flights were carried out in May alone, which is a 26% increase in comparison to the same period last year.
Indian low-cost airline IndiGo (InterGlobe Aviation Limited) is entering the Georgian aviation market starting March 5, 2020, announces the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency (GCAA).
United Arab Emirates’ Etihad Airways is launching flights from Tbilisi to Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates, starting March 2020.
Georgian airports served 4,555,673 passengers in January-October 2019, which is 4 per cent more compared to the same period of last year, United Airports of Georgia announces.
