A Georgian wrestler Nugzar Tsurtsumia defeated his Russian rival Elchiv Ibragimov at the wrestling competition in Poland yesterday.
Tsurtsumia, who is a Greco-Roman style wrestler, has won gold in the 55kg category in the Ziolkowski, Pytlasinski & Poland Open held in Warsaw on August 2-4.

Earlier this year Tsurtsumia won gold in the U23 European Championship in Serbia. Last year he became the victor of the Greco-Roman wrestling world championship.
In recent years he has won gold in the 50kg category in Junior European Wrestling Championships in Romania, as well as the Austrian Open tournament.
Georgian Greco-Roman wrestlers under 23 have won four gold and one bronze medals at the European Championship which is being held in Serbia.
On the second day of the world championships of freestyle wrestling in Bucharest, Georgian brothers Avtandil and Nikoloz Kenchadze have become the world champions in the under-23 category.
Georgian Olympic, world and European champion Vladimer Khinchegashvili is the world’s number one wrestler in the 61kg weight category.
Athletes win four gold, one bronze medals
Georgia is team champion of the United World Wrestling (UWW) Junior World Championships after athletes won four golds and a bronze medal this week at an international competition for young wrestlers.
Georgian Greco-Roman wrestlers Nugzar Tsurtsumia and Lasha Gobadze have won the World Championship in Kazakhstan in their respective categories.
Georgia has won nine medals at the recent European Judo Junior Championship in Finland, including six gold.
Georgian Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestlers have won four medals at the World Championship held in Kazakhstan, which is the best result ever by Georgian wrestlers in one season.
Georgian Greco-Roman wrestlers have grabbed more medals at the 47th Annual Henri Deglane Grand Prix of France. Giorgi Melia has won gold in the 97kg category, while Sulkhan Buadze and Guram Khetsuriani have won bronze in the 130kg and 87kg categories, respectively.
Georgian world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling Nugzar Tsurtsumia has been sentenced to three days of imprisonment along with another wrestler Nika Korshia for petty hooliganism and disobedience to the police in the western Georgian town of Khobi yesterday. Police arrested two more wrestlers Varlam Kvaratskhelia and Zaza Dateshidze together with Tsurtsumia and Korshia for an attack on a policeman.
Georgian Greco-Roman wrestler Nugzar Tsurtsumia won the silver medal in the 55 kg category at the Greco-Roman World Championships in Belgrade, the Georgian Wrestling Federation said on Sunday. The 25-year-old athlete collected the silver after conceding the final match of the weight division 0:8 to Azerbaijani’s Eldaniz Azizli.
