Georgia takes 9 medals at European Judo Junior Championship in historic win

Georgia has won nine medals at the recent European Judo Junior Championship in Finland, including six gold. 

For the first time in the history of Georgian judo female judoka Eter Liparteliani won gold at the championship. 

In total Georgian judokas have won six gold, one silver and two bronze medals.

The gold medal winners are: 

  • Giorgi Tutashvili - (-66kg).
  • Tato Grigalashvili - (-81kg).
  • Lasha Bekauri - (-90 kg).
  • Ilia Sulamanidze - (-100 kg).
  • Gela Zaalishvili - (+100kg).
  • Eter Liparteliani - (-57kg). 

The silver medal winner is Vladimer Akhalkatsi - (81kg), while bronze medals were won by Marian Chanturia (-70kg) and Mikheil Bekauri (-90kg). 

The united team of Georgian female and male judokas won bronze in the team competition at the championship. 

342 participants from 44 nations took part in the championship between September 12 and 14.
