Georgia takes 9 medals at European Judo Junior Championship in historic win

Georgia has won nine medals at the recent European Judo Junior Championship in Finland, including six gold.
For the first time in the history of Georgian judo female judoka Eter Liparteliani won gold at the championship.
In total Georgian judokas have won six gold, one silver and two bronze medals.

The gold medal winners are:
- Giorgi Tutashvili - (-66kg).
- Tato Grigalashvili - (-81kg).
- Lasha Bekauri - (-90 kg).
- Ilia Sulamanidze - (-100 kg).
- Gela Zaalishvili - (+100kg).
- Eter Liparteliani - (-57kg).
The silver medal winner is Vladimer Akhalkatsi - (81kg), while bronze medals were won by Marian Chanturia (-70kg) and Mikheil Bekauri (-90kg).
The united team of Georgian female and male judokas won bronze in the team competition at the championship.
342 participants from 44 nations took part in the championship between September 12 and 14.
Georgian Greco-Roman wrestlers Nugzar Tsurtsumia and Lasha Gobadze have won the World Championship in Kazakhstan in their respective categories.
Two Georgian judokas - Giorgi Tutashvili (-66kg) and Eter Liparteliani (-57kg) have won the European Judo championship being held in Finland.
Georgian wrestler Nugzar Tsurtsumia defeated his Russian rival Elchin Ibragimov at the wrestling competition in Poland yesterday. Tsurtsumia, who is a Greco-Roman style wrestler, has won gold in the 55kg category.
Georgian Olympic, world and European champion Vladimer Khinchegashvili is the world’s number one wrestler in the 61kg weight category.
Another Georgian freestyle wrestler Beka Lomtadze won the world championship in Kazakhstan today. Lomtadze, 27, has defeated his Russian rival Magomedrasul Idrisov in the 61kg category.
Georgian judoka Eter Liparteliani has won the world championship in Marrakesh, Morocco today. Liparteliani, 20, has handed a defeat to her Japanese rival Kanako Hakamata in the under 57kg category.
Georgian judokas Eter Liparteliani and Mariam Tchanturia have won the under 23 European championship in the Russian city of Izhevsk. Two male judokas Jaba Papinashvili and Temur Nozadze have ended with bronze each.
The International Judo Federation has named Georgia's young athlete Lasha Bekauri as the newcomer of the year in its unofficial end of year awards.
