5 dead, 3 injured, 2 missing in tragic accident in Tusheti

Five people, including a minor and a driver, have died in a car accident that occurred yesterday on the road leading to Georgia's iconic mountainous region of Tusheti.

Three people have been hospitalised, while two are still missing.

The rescue teams of the Interior Ministry's Emergency Management Service and doctors arrived on a Border Police helicopter from Tbilisi.

The Emergency Management Service released a video from the place of accident:

 

A preliminary account states the driver of a Kamaz truck fell into a ravine en route to the village of Omali in Tusheti region. 

Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili expressed her condolences over the tragic accident

 I send my condolences to the families of the deceased and would like to wish a fast recovery to those who were injured”, President Zurabishvili wrote on her Facebook page.

Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze has also shared his condolences.
