Court gives 8 years to five people for their connections with the criminal underworld

Tbilisi City Court has sentenced five individuals to eight years in prison for membership in the criminal underworld, addressing criminal bosses [to solve a dispute] and participation in criminal assemblies.

The individuals were detained back in May 2018.

Two of the detainees addressed criminal bosses to solve a financial dispute.

Criminal assemblies regarding the issue took place in Tbilisi and Turkey at different times, with the involvement of two criminal bosses.

The remaining three were members of the criminal underworld, connecting people with the criminal bosses.

Earlier in August 2018, the Georgian Interior Ministry announced  that the list of crimes in the criminal code related to so-called criminal bosses and their activities had expanded.
