The Georgian Interior Ministry has detained 13 individuals for ‘membership in the criminal underworld’ and requesting the mediation of ‘criminal bosses’ to settle a dispute.
The ministry stated that one of the detainees had a financial dispute with a business partner regarding the distribution of income.
The disputing parties appealed to members of the ‘criminal underworld’ to resolve the matter, after which one of the thieves residing abroad instructed his son (M.M.) to resolve the conflict.
M.M. organized a meeting for the disputing parties April 16, 2021 in Tbilisi, as a result of which one of the parties was ordered to pay 80,000 GEL in favour of the other side.
Law enforcers seized computer equipment, four vehicles, firearms and mobile phones of the detainees during a search.
The crime is punishable by seven to 10 years in prison.
