Tourist season has officially opened in Georgia's Black Sea town of Batumi.
The Batumi beach, located in the country’s west, is the main summer destination for Georgian and foreign visitors.
For the first time, 20 female lifeguards will patrol Batumi coast this summer together with their male colleagues, to prevent incidents and help those in danger.

Known for its diverse landscape - Batumi has seen wider recognition of its tourist potential over the past few years, including in Airbnb's '19 destinations to visit in 2019' list.
The town has recently received the title of ‘Europe’s Leading Emerging Tourism Destination’.

The seaside town has become the first municipality in the country to receive the title of European City of Sport for 2019.
A number of air companies, including Polish Enter Air, Saudi Arabia’s Flynas, as well as Ukrainian SkyUP and Azerbaijani Buta Airways, have also launched flights to Batumi.
Tourist season has opened in other seaside resorts of western Georgia as will. Kobuleti, Shekvetili, Ureki, Kvariati and Sarpi are also Georgia's among most visited resorts in summer.
