NATO member and ally states’ soldiers undergo mountain training in Gudauri

Twelve soldiers from NATO and partner countries are undergoıng exercises on how to overcome obstacles on snowy landscapes in Georgia’s Gudauri resort, in the country’s east.

The training is being held within the NATO Partnership for Peace (PfP) Program and is being hosted at Colonel Besik Kutateladze Sachkhere Mountain Training School. 

Georgian soldiers are joined by military units from Latvia, Poland and Armenia. The exercise launched today and is scheduled to be completed on February 2.

The servicemen will also learn how to search for people in avalanche conditions and get acquainted with technical methods of evacuation. The course program includes learning how to build igloos or snow shelters. 

 The course is guided by instructors from Sachkhere Mountain Training School. At the end of the course the military units will take tests after which they will receive certificates, badges and recommendations.
