The Government of Georgia plans to approve a general plan for land use for the country’s mountainous Bakuriani resort, avoiding spontaneous infrastructural development and eliminating the unplanned use of forests.

The general plan for Land Use for Bakuriani will include strict regulations to properly develop infrastructure in the resort.

Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili announced this initiative at today’s government meeting and said that the new regulations would turn Bakuriani into a four-season mountain resort of international quality standards.

Within the general plan the slopes of Bakuriani will be further lengthened and will be connected to each other.

The general plan also includes the creation of more recreation zones, camping areas, hiking roads and other facilities.

Kvirikashvili said that proper spatial planning throughout Georgia was part of the government’s four-point reform plan and one its most important aspects.
