The International Olympic Committee will send a special group of experts and advisers to Georgia to learn about development in the country’s mountain resorts and future prospects in the industry.

The decision came after a meeting between Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach in Lausanne, Switzerland today.

At the meeting, Georgia’s goal to become a host country of the Olympic Games was highlighted.

The PM said that Switzerland’s experience in developing ski resorts was very important for Georgia.

The recent activities of your country are very impressive for us. The International Olympic Committee is interested in developing sport and accordingly we support national Olympic Committees, including Georgia’s National Olympic Committee,” said Bach.

At the end of the meeting Bach awarded Kvirikashvili with a founder’s medal, which traditionally is given to the heads of the states and governments.
