Georgia gets 4 medals at European Judo Open competition

Georgian wrestlers scored four medals at the European Judo Open competition among men in the Austrian town of Oberwart where they competed against athletes from around the world over the weekend.

With twenty competitors taking part in the event for Georgia, four of the team's members claimed two gold, one silver and one bronze medal.

Onise Saneblidze and Onise Bughadze emerged from the two-day competition with gold in -100kg and +100kg categories.

Giorgi Kavtaradze scored second-place finish in the +100kg section, while David Ozbetelashvili also took home honourz from the competition, as he finished third in +100kg category.

Three more wrestlers from Georgia qualified for finishing results and ended the tournament in fifth place . They are:

  • Omari Niazashvili in the -73kg category;
  • Giga Gigauri in the -81kg category;
  • Giorgi Papunashvili in -90kg category.
