Six terrorism suspects found guilty by Tbilisi City Court

Six terrorism suspects, who were detained before, during or after the 2017 large-scale counter terrorism raids in Tbilisi and Pankisi, have been found guilty by Tbilisi City Court today.
Ruslan Shavadze and Shoaip Borziev have been found guilty of membership in a terrorist organisation, illegal carrying of firearms for terrorist aims and illegally crossing the border.
Both have been sentenced to 13 years in prison.
The remaining four have been charged with support of terrorist activities and providing terrorists with necessary material items.
The court found all four suspects guilty and sent Ruslan Aldamov and Anatoli Berdzenishvili to 11 years in prison, Ramaz Margoshvili to 12 years in prison and Zurab Idoidze to 10 years in prison.
The Georgian State Security Service conducted a large-scale counter-terrorism operation in Tbilisi in November last year, when the Islamic State terrorist Achmed Chatayev blew himself up while his two associates were killed by special unit servicemen.
Only one of Chatayev’s allies was detained alive who turned out to be a Russian citizen.
In December 2017 the Security Service conducted another anti-terrorist operation in the country’s Muslim-populated Pankisi gorge, where one alleged suspect was shot and four others were detained.
The individual who was shot, Temirlan Machalikashvili, died two weeks after the incident.
Shoaip Borziev was detained before the raids, while Berdzenishvili and Idoidze were detained several days after the Pankisi special operation.
The State Security Service of Georgia has arrested yet another man for allegedly helping Akhmed Chataev, an Islamic State-linked terrorist, enter Georgia. Based on the investigation, Anatoli Berdzenishvili travelled to Turkey to assist Chataev and his group.
The suspected terrorists killed in the Tbilisi counter-terrorist operation on November 22 were planning to attack diplomatic missions in Georgia and Turkey, says the Georgian State Security Service. The Service revealed the results of the ongoing investigation this afternoon.
Georgia’s State Security Service (SSS) has confirmed that one of the three killed suspects in the Tbilisi counter-terrorist operation on November 22 is an Islamic State-linked, Russia citizen of Chechen origin, Ahmed Chataev. SSS stated that two suspects were killed by Georgian law enforcers, while "Chataev exploded himself.”
The State Security Service of Georgia announced a short time ago that the special operation to arrest suspected terrorists in Tbilisi has officially ended. The officer from the Special Operations Forces, who wounded during the operation, died in hospital.
Terrorists say that they will take revenge for the deaths of members of their organisation who were killed by Georgian law enforcers during last year’s anti-terrorist raid in Tbilisi. A Georgian unit of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist organisation has threatened the Georgian government, saying they will take revenge for their "murdered brothers,” Georgian media Palitranews released the video today.
The Georgian government has adopted a National Counterterrorism Strategy. The strategy was developed by a permanent Interagency Commission comprised of different state authorities and chaired by the State Security Service.
One Georgian and nine Syrian nationals have been detained for having contacts with the terrorist organisation Islamic State (IS), Dailysabah reports.
The Tbilisi City Court has found five Georgian citizens guilty of an attempt to join the Islamic State terrorist organisation in Syria and support of its activities, the Court announced on Tuesday.
