Portugal supports Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced.
As the MFA of Georgia reports Portugal strongly condemns the recent decision by the Syrian regime on the establishment of diplomatic relations with Georgia’s regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, currently occupied by Russia.
Earlier, Canada, Finland, Japan, EU countries as well as the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, NATO also officially condemned the Syrian regime’s recognition of the Russian-occupied regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia in Georgia.
Georgia has started procedures to cut diplomatic relations with the Syrian Arab Republic, announces the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
The decision came after Syria officially recognised the independence of occupied Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions on May 29.
