Tbilisi City Hall initiates plastic bottle recycling

Tbilisi City Hall is taking steps to reduce damage caused by plastic bottles and intends to install plastic bottles collector machines in the city.
Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said that this project will be implemented within the ‘Your Idea for Tbilisi Mayor’ initiative, which was launched this year.
"Installing plastic bottles collector machines is one of the mospt interesting ideas that we will gladly make a reality”, said Kaladze.
"This idea is in compliance with the waste management strategy which is determined by the Association Agreement [signed between Georgia and the European Union]”, he said.
"We have already started working on this idea and want to install bins in every district of Tbilisi in cooperation with the private sector, which is willing to process the plastic bottles”, Kaladze said.
To note, special litter bins for plastic bottles are installed in Georgia’s western city of Kutaisi.
A total of 30 million GEL (about $12.35m/€10.43m) will be allocated from the state budget for the implementation of infrastructural projects in Georgia’s capital of Tbilisi planned for 2019-2020.
