Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili thanked US Ambassador to Georgia Ian Kelly yesterday and the Government of the United States for their long-term contribution to the country’s development.

Kvirikashvili said the $140 million compact granted to Georgia by the US Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) is one of the best examples of the US support to Georgia.

Per its official webpage, the compact seeks to increase the earning potential of Georgians through improvements in the quality of education in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields, and strategic investments in general education through technical training or advanced degree programs.

Prime Minister Kvirikashvili believes that the development of human capital will positively reflect on the country's economic prosperity.

We value this far-reaching support of education, especially since education is our government's number one priority”, Kvirikashvili said welcoming youth’s "growing interest in innovation and modern technology”.

PM Kvirikashvili hopes that Georgia’s cooperation with the US will further intensify so as to bring "substantial change to the life of the country”.

The compact considers improving conditions and quality of the general and high education systems in Georgia through rehabilitating school buildings, equipping them with modern labs, re-training teachers and principals, supporting professional education, organising job forums, providing joint-degree programs with American universities and other activities.
