Turkey, Russia and China are Georgia’s top trade partners this year, shows the preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
Georgia’s top 10 trade partners in January-October 2017 made for 66.1 percent of the country’s total trade turnover, with Turkey ($1.28 billion), Russia ($929.6 million) and China ($728 million) filling the top three spots.
Trade with EU countries
Trade turnover with European Union (EU) countries increased by 4.2 percent year-on-year (y/y) and amounted to $2.32 billion, said Geostat.
Exports were worth $531.1 million (17.1 percent higher), while imports reached $1.7 billion (0.9 percent higher).
Trade with CIS countries
The external trade turnover of Georgia with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries totalled $2.78 billion in January-October 2017 – 32.1 percent higher compared to the same period of 2016.
Exports were worth $911.5 million (59.6 percent higher) while imports equalled $1.87 billion (21.9 percent higher).
