Georgia’s external trade grew by 16.3 percent this year and reached $1.68 billion in January-February 2018, says the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
This year the value of Georgia’s exports increased by 25.5 percent to $446.4 million, while the value of imports also increased 13.3 percent to $1.23 billion with respect to January-February 2017, said Geostat.
Georgia’s trade deficit equalled $790.7 million this year, which was a 47 percent share of the country's total trade turnover.
Trade deficit is an economic measure of the negative balance of trade in which a country's imports exceed its exports.
