We have signed a memorandum which empahises what steps should be made for delivering Georgia modern, high standard railway technique. This includes metro wagons, sleeping wagons and double-decker wagons,” Spuhler said.

Within the memorandum the company is ready to invest in Georgia, open its regional daughter company which will manufacture new trains. The factory will be able to manufacture new trains as well as repair existing ones,” announced the Administration of Government of Georgia.

Brand new and modern double-decker trains made in Switzerland have already been introduced to the Georgian railway network and serve passengers travelling between Georgia’s capital of Tbilisi to the country’s Black Sea resorts this summer.

The first modern double-decker train entered Batumi Central Railway Station on July 22, 2016.
