Georgia is negotiating with leading Swiss train manufacturing company Stadler Rail to open a plant in the country that will produce metro and railway trains, announces the Ministry of Economy of Georgia.
Turnava met with the president of Stadler today. The Ministry of Economy announced that its strategy of attracting international business envisages holding negotiations with more than 400 global companies and introducing them to Georgian business opportunities and offering attractive investment conditions.
At the meeting Turnava talked about the stable and sustainable business environment of Georgia and the advantages of free trade agreements that Georgia has, giving foreign investors the possibility to access markets of 2.3 billion consumers.
We have one of the best investment environments and now we are one of the safest countries epidemiologically, which is also an important factor for doing business. Stadler is a company that will employ lots of citizens. The company is ready to start the training and the preparatory phase. We hope with our involvement and support we will finally have a local Stadler plant", Turnava said.
Stadler has been supplying Georgian market with Swiss-made double-decker trains which used to serve Tbilisi-Batumi passengers, but now negotiations are underway with the Swiss company to open a plant in Georgia.
