Prime Minister names date for Gov’t reshuffle

Acting Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili told local media today he would hold a briefing on Monday to name the country's new Cabinet of Ministers.
The statement came after the new Parliament of Georgia gathered yesterday and the President named Kvirikashvili as Acting Prime Minister in the wake of last month’s Parliamentary Elections.
Kvirikashvili must now announce who will be the country's new Cabinet.
The Acting Prime Minister and the new Cabinet must be confirmed by Parliament; each person nominated in a role must gain at least 76 votes in the 150-seat legislative body.
Earlier Kvirikashvili said he did not plan any major ministerial changes and said law enforcement ministers would retain their posts.
In the new Cabinet there will be no seat for the Minister of Diaspora Issues, as the Ministry will merge with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This means there will be 18 ministers instead of 19 in the future Cabinet of Georgia's Government.
This afternoon a short time after the country's new lawmakers elected Irakli Kobakhidze as the new Speaker of Parliament, the legislative body voted for who it wanted as Vice Speakers of Parliament.

Today in Kutaisi at the first meeting of the country's new Parliament, the majority, minority and five factions have been formed in the new Parliament of Georgia.

Ready for Parliament vote
There are three new names in the new Cabinet of Ministers of Georgia, and one official has switched from one ministry to another. A short time ago Georgia’s Acting Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili presented the proposed new Cabinet.

The Government of Georgia is undergoing a major reshuffle, where several ministries will be merged. The changes will be approved at the nearest government meeting after which the new Cabinet will be presented to Parliament for a vote of confidence.
