Voter turnout at today’s repeat vote of the Parliamentary Elections hit almost 43 percent by 5pm.

A short time ago Central Election Commission (CEC) spokesperson Ana Mikeladze said voter turnout was 42.8 percent at Marneuli and Zugdidi at 5pm - three hours before the polling stations closes this evening.

These figures meant by 5pm, 615 people had voted in Marneuli and 1,218 voters had voted in Zugdidi.

A repeat vote was needed after votes were nullified at four polling stations due to incidents on Election Day.

The four polling stations affected were:

  • #48 polling station in Marneuli district in southern Georgia; and
  • #38, #79 and #108 polling stations in Zugdidi district, western Georgia.

Meanwhile 1,436 voters were registered at Marneuli polling station and a total of 2,844 voters were registered at the three polling stations in Zugdidi.

Mikeladze called on voters to be more active as there was only a couple of hours left before polling booths closed.

All four election stations will shut at 8pm this evening,
