All four polling stations where a repeat vote of Georgia’s Parliamentary Elections was held have closed and results being tallied show over 2,000 people cast their votes today.

The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia released latest voter turnout figures a short time ago after polling stations closed at 8pm this evening.

The data showed 2,234 people voted today.

More specifically, 766 people had cast their ballot at a polling station Marneuli and 1,468 people at all three polling stations Zugdidi.

Overall, voter turnout was as the following:

  • #48 polling station in Marneuli district in southern Georgia – 53.3 percent
  • #38 polling station in Zugdidi district, western Georgia – 40.3 percent
  • #79 polling station in Zugdidi district, western Georgia – 61.3 percent
  • #108 polling station in Zugdidi district, western Georgia – 56.8 percent

The CEC also commented on the electoral environment. The agency noted the election process and vote took place in "mainly peaceful conditions" throughout the day and voters had the opportunity to express their voting preference freely.

Currently the process of counting the votes is underway.

A repeat vote was needed at four polling stations after votes were nullified due to incidents on Election Day.
