Repeat vote: 4 polling stations open for 4,280 voters

Today's voting is underway in a calm environment, says Georgia’s Central Election Commission (CEC).
All four polling stations where a repeat vote for the Parliamentary Elections was needed are now open where people can go and cast their vote.
A repeat vote was needed after votes were nullified due to incidents on Election Day at the following four polling stations:
- #48 polling station in Marneuli district in southern Georgia; and
- #38, #79 and #108 polling stations in Zugdidi district, western Georgia.
The CEC said 1,436 people were registered to vote at Marneuli polling station.
As for the all three polling stations in Zugdidi municipality, a total of 2,844 voters were registered there.
At a press briefing earlier this morning, CEC spokesperson Ana Mikeladze said a large number of observers and media representatives were at #48 polling station in Marneuli district. She asked them all to carry out their responsibilities in a way that wouldn’t hinder the voting process.

A repeat vote of the October 8 Parliamentary Elections of Georgia is taking place place today, Saturday October 22 at several polling stations countrywide where votes were nullified due to incidents on Election Day.
A second round of October 8 Parliamentary Elections of Georgia will likely take place on October 30 and a repeat vote at four polling stations will likely be held on October 22.
Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched an investigation into several cases of violence that erupted at polling stations during yesterday’s Parliamentary Elections.
A repeat vote of the Parliamentary Elections will take place in several districts in Georgia where votes were nullified due to incidences on Election Day.
CEC spokesperson Ana Mikeladze said voter turnout was 20.6 percent in Marneuli and 18.46 percent in Zugdidi at 12pm - four hours after polling stations opened in today's repeat vote.
The repeat vote is coming to an end and so far the voting environment is peaceful and orderly, says Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association (GYLA), a leading local NGO.
By 5pm almost 43 percent of eligible voters have had their say in the repeat vote. This meant by 5pm 615 peoplehad voted in Marneuli and 1,218 people had voted in Zugdidi, said the CEC.
All four polling stations where a repeat vote of Georgia’s Parliamentary Elections was held have closed and results being tallied show over 2,000 people cast their votes today.
