Invictus Games: Georgian wounded warriors in sitting volleyball semi-final

Georgian warriors wounded in the Russia-Georgia war in August 2008 and other international operations are taking part in an international competition specifically for wounded servicemen and women from all over the globe.

Georgia’s representatives have performed well and are now set to take part in the semi-final match for sitting volleyball at the prestigious Invictus Games 2016, currently being held in Orlando, Florida, the United States (US).

This is the second time the Games have been held since inaugurating in London in 2014.

The Georgian sitting volleyball team defeated Jordan, Denmark and Estonia before reaching the semi-final.

The match against Jordan was attended by Prince Harry of Great Britain who later took pictures with the winning Georgian side following the game.

Wounded servicemen and women from 14 countries are competing in several sporting disciplines over four days.
