The work of two Georgian designers are featuring at one of the world’s most anticipated and prestigious fashion events – London Fashion Week.

London-based fashion designer of Georgian descent David Koma(known for his sculptural creations) and Georgian twin sisters Tamar and Natasha Surguladze, who own the dress label Tata-Naka, will showcase their creative abilities at the London Fashion Week (LFW) Autumn/Winter 2014 collection.

Koma’s Autumn/Winter 2014 runway show was unveiled on one of the many catwalks at LFW, and international fashion website Fashionising.com captured each look as his work hit the runway on February 17.

The 29-year-old, who was hired by Thierry Mugler last December as an artistic director, kitted out his eponymous collection with sharply tailored outfits in a range of luxurious textures, reported international fashion magazines.

In a review of Koma’s collection, Vogue magazine stated the Georgian’s work was unique. "The show opened with a long purple coat that fell neatly on the shoulder but had a gently voluminous feel through the body. There were subtle references to the grandeur of a Renaissance silhouette from a super-high turtleneck through to more skin-revealing portrait collars,” the review said.

"Koma had been looking at the corsetry of the era for inspiration and interpreted that waist-cinching look with basket-weaving or lattice cut-outs around the middle.”

Meanwhile UK-based Georgian singer/songwriter Katie Melua took to Twitter to praise Koma on his Fashion Week.

"Congratulations @DAVIDKOMALONDON on another stunning collection! Excited to have been here!!” read the tweet.

Labelled as "a fashion wunderkind” by fashion critics, Koma’s his main signatures are ‘sculptural shapes, heavy embellishment and a perfect fit.’
