Accessible healthcare, village doctors, Hepatitis C Program, maternal and child health, infrastructural projects are among most important achievements of the Health Ministry in the last two years according to the Minister of Labour, Health and Social Affairs David Sergeenko.
Yesterday, Sergeenko presented the-two year report of his Ministry and outlined the Universal Healthcare Program as the most successful project.
The Minister noted that throughout last two years, 2,882,238 people were registered in the Primary Healthcare Centers and 822,413 received free treatment.
Sergeenko also said that from May 2014, funding of village doctors and nurses increased by 30 percent. In addition, they were given essential medicine and drugs for emergency ambulance service and medical documentations.
He also talked about the Hepatitis C program, within which beneficiaries were able to purchase disease drugs with a 60% discount from Government.
Overall the two-year report covered 20 projects that the Ministry implemented in all three directions (labour, health and social affairs).
David Sergeenko also spoke about the plans of the Ministry for the year 2015.
He noted that next year the counting system for socially vulnerable families would change, pensions would increase, construction of several medical centers in regions would be completed and three medical institutions in Tbilisi would be reconstructed.
In addition, the Ministry planned to start a new program, which would eliminate the Hepatitis C disease in Georgia.
