Georgia’s Minister of Health David Sergeenko stated today that his body planned to introduce strict control both on imported and local medicines from the year.
The Minister also stressed that together with local laboratories the quality of medicines would be tested in high-class foreign labs.
The quality control covers a long chain. Up to now imported and locally produced medicines were checked for quality one time, only after the medicines were distributed from factories. "
From the year we plan to also check the materials which are used for making medicines. "
The Minister highlighted that the local Levan Samkharauli Laboratory, where the medicines have been examined, did not have relevant international accreditation for such a checking.
Consequently, following the lead, Sergeenko said that together with the local lab the quality of the medicines would be re-checked in leading European labs.
