Second body found after Dariali landslip

Two people working on the rehabilitation of a tunnel died in the August 20 disaster.

The body of a man missing since the landslide in Devdoraki Gorge, near Kazbegi and the Russian border, has been found today.

Rescuers found the body of a Georgian citizen in the collapsed land mass of the Dariali Hydro Power Plant (HPP) tunnel.

Two people died in the August 20 disaster. Both men, a Georgian and Turkish citizen, were working on the rehabilitation of the HPP tunnel.

The body of the Turkish man was swept down the Tergi River and washed ashore on the Russian side, near Larsi village several days ago.

The body of the Georgian worker will be officially examined then returned to the family.

Meanwhile, the rehabilitation works on the HHP and the surrounding roads are ongoing.
