Georgian weightlifters win 15 medals at European Senior Championship

Georgian athletes have triumphed at the European Weightlifting Championship receiving ten gold, three silver and two bronze medals in Bucharest, Romania.

Georgia’s weightlifting world champion and record-breaking athlete, Lasha Talakhadze received three gold medals in different categories.

Other winners of the championship are:

  • Anastasia Gottfried with three gold medals,
  • Shota Mishveladze - two gold and one silver,
  • Revaz Davitadze - two gold and one silver,
  • Irakli Turmanidze - silver,
  • Tatia Lortkipanidze – bronze,
  • Goderdzi Berdelidze – bronze.

The Georgian athletes dedicated their victory to Georgia’s 100th anniversary of independence.

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili congratulated the team on their great success via his Facebook page.

Georgia was among the 32 countries hosted by Romania on March 26-April 1.
