Georgian weightlifter Lasha Talakhadze has been put on top of the list of World Weightlifting Lifter of the Year poll.
He topped the list for 2017 as well.
The previous year’s favourites still maintain their positions: Lidia Vaelentin from Spain has won among the women while Lasha Talakhadze from Georgia has gained victory among the men.
Up to 30,000 votes were cast on the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) website.
Approximately 17,800 people voted for Talakhadze and nearly 13,000 clicks were received by Valentin.
The time and the location of the award ceremony of the “Jeno Boskovics Lifter of the Year Trophies” is not known yet. Tbilisi hosted the ceremony in the year of 2017.
