A new crew of public order officers will soon appear in the streets of Georgia’s capital of Tbilisi to prevent crime.

60 public order officers have already passed special training and will soon start their duties, announced Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs.

A total of 40 new public order officers made an oath today and will join those 60 officers later.

Before that, they have to undergo a special training course at the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs which will take five months.

The newly-appointed public order officers have been selected based on an open competition, testing, interviews and physical training.

The institution of public order officers is aimed at community-oriented approaches and policing.
