Georgia marks Police Day

Today Georgia marks Police Day.

Addressing police employees Georgian Interior Minister Giorgi Gakharia said that it is the “biggest honour for me to serve the country with you.”

Gakharia paid homage to police employees killed on duty and stated that the current goal is the creation of an effective police,” which will always preserve political neutrality”.

Today we know very well where we stand and what our future plans are, that is why we called the ongoing police reform a systemic renovation. We are eager to preserve what was good and provide the innovations which will help us respond to modern challenges,” Gakharia said.

Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze said that the Georgian Dream government managed to ensure a politically neutral police in the country.

He praised the reforms launched in the ministry, “which will benefit the country much.”

Today is a very important day. I want to thank you for your huge merit to the country,” Bakhtadze told the police.

President Salome Zurabishvili stated that the current government is building a democratic, European and a free country and “you are the base of such a country.
