MIA reveals statistical data about seized drugs

The Interior Ministry says the “uncompromising fight” against drug trafficking continues.

9 kilograms of heroin, 1.2 kilograms of cocaine, 5 thousand buprenorphine-containing pills and 1.7 kilograms of MDMA were seized by police this year.

The statistical data revealed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs today shows that one of the recent drug seizurse happened at Vale border checkpoint in Samtskhe-Javakheti region neighboring Turkey. 

The detained Azerbaijani citizen was found to have 500 grams of hashish which is punishable by eight to 20 years imprisonment. 

In addition, the central criminal department has arrested two Iranian citizens recently at Tbilisi International Airport who were found to have 730 grams of heroin and 14 pills of methadone.

The Interior Ministry continues its "uncompromising fight” against drug trafficking in cooperation with the Prosecutors Office, reads the statement by the ministry.
