Georgian police arrests person wanted by Interpol

The detainee, a Turkish citizen born in 1963 and only named as E.E, was issued an international arrest warrant for his crimes committed in Belgium.

Georgian police have arrested a person wanted internationally by Interpol.

The detainee, a Turkish citizen born in 1963 and only named as E.E, was issued an international arrest warrant for his crimes committed in Belgium.

The Tbilisi Bureau of Interpol along with Adjara Patrol Police Department detained the person as he tried to cross the Georgian border from Turkey through the Sarpi check-point in the western part of Georgia.

The detainee was found guilty of drug dealing and assault for robbery purpose under the articles 461 and 473 envisaged by the Belgian Criminal Code.

The Georgian Interior Ministry said that currently formal procedures are underway, after which the detainee will be extradited to Belgium.
