Georgia has won its second gold medal at the prestigious international judo competition in Germany - Judo Grand Prix Dusseldorf 2017.
21-year-old Georgian judoka Beka Gviniashvili defeated a Russian judoka in the final of the 90km weight category and was crowned the winner of the competition.
"Beka Gviniashvili may only be 21 years old but he is one of the most decorated and talented judoka in the sport and is just getting started”, the International Judo Federation wrote on its website following the fight.
"The Georgian won his fifth Grand Prix gold medal on Sunday with a mercurial display that illustrated why he is the golden boy of Georgian judo.”
Overall, Georgia won four medals at the competition of 45 national teams – two gold and two silver – and was named the second best judo nation, following Japan.
