Georgia's western Autonomous Republic of Adjara will have a multi-party legislative body.

Preliminary results show four parties overcame the five percent minimum threshold in Saturday's elections and will subsequently have seats in the Supreme Council of Adjara.

On October 8, in parallel to Georgia’s Parliamentary Elections, people in Adjara region voted to elect lawmakers in the 21-member Supreme Council.

The current preliminary results for Adjara’s Supreme Council are:

Meanwhile a second round is needed in all six majoritarian districts of Adjara as no candidate managed to gain more than 50 percent votes - the minimum needed to win outright.

In the first round, candidates from the ruling Georgian Dream party gained the most votes followed by candidates from opposition party United National Movement (UNM).

The Supreme Council of Adjara comprises of 21 seats. Of this, 15 are elected through party lists and six through majoritarian districts.
