Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Thursday highlighted the Government's “unwavering leadership” in ensuring good governance and transparency and combating corruption, in response to the latest Heritage Foundation Index of Economic Freedom that ranked the country 38th globally.
In a social media message, the lawmaker noted the ranking in Government Integrity meant the country had now entered Europe's top 20.
“Surpassing [11] EU, [13] NATO, and all EU candidate countries, Georgia's strides towards greater transparency and integrity are noteworthy”, Papuashvili said.

He added the inclusion in Europe's top 20 marked a “significant advancement” over the past 12 years of the Georgian Dream Government.
The official contrasted the selection with 2012, during the previous Government's tenure, when he said the country had held 69th place and “belonged to the lowest ‘repressed’ category of countries”.
