Mamuka Mdinaradze, the head of the ruling Georgian Dream party in the Parliament, on Thursday said the parliamentary majority would present a legislative initiative to “protect the public from pseudo-liberal ideology”.
Mdinaradze said the bill would “fully respect the principles and norms outlined in the constitution”, adding “the rights of each of our citizens must be and will be protected fundamentally, regardless of their mode of life”, but claimed the need for the initiative.
[C]onfronting the deliberate propaganda of a non-traditional mode of life is our responsibility to the Georgian public and its future. Everyone who feels responsible for these values is obliged and encouraged to actively participate in this process, to support this initiative, which will be directed against pseudo-liberal ideology and its influence”, Mdinaradze said.
The official claimed the protection of human rights in the country, including four people with “non-traditional [sexual] orientation”, was the “achievement” of the Georgian Dream Government.
“[But] we see severe trends in spreading pseudo-liberal ideology worldwide. This propaganda is getting more and more rude”, he continued.
Mdinaradze noted the bill would be developed and presented to the Parliament within two weeks.
