Maka Botchorishvili, the Chair of the Parliament's European Integration Committee, on Tuesday highlighted the visit of a Georgian parliamentary delegation to the European Parliament in Strasbourg by saying it was “important to discuss the progress” of the country on its European integration path.
It is important for us to voice positions of Georgia as a [EU membership] candidate country with our counterparts in the European Parliament and discuss the progress that Georgia has on the path of European integration”, Botchorishvili said.
“After receiving the candidate status, this is the first visit and first meeting with MEPs. It is important for us to introduce them to the steps that are planned within the framework of the action plan for the fulfilment of the nine priorities [for accession talks], and also to hear from them what their attitudes are regarding the progress of Georgia”, she noted.
Botchorishvili will meet MEPs from all political groups in the framework of the visit.
