Maka Botchorishvili, the Chair of the European Integration Committee of the Georgian Parliament and her Deputy Levan Karumidze discussed the country’s European integration with the European Parliament officials in Strasbourg, the Parliament press office said on Sunday.

Within the framework of the EP’s plenary session, the Georgian officials met with MEPs from all political groups, including the co-chair of the Georgia-EU Parliamentary Committee, the European Parliament's Rapporteur on Georgia, and members of the Foreign Affairs Committee.

The agenda of Georgia’s integration into the bloc within the enlargement policy and the importance of the country in Europe’s geopolitical perspective were reviewed at the meetings, with the parties also referring to the upcoming general elections in Georgia.

Two reports on the EU common foreign security policy and defence were prepared in the European Parliament, which envisage the support for Georgia’s European integration and “strongly condemn” Russia’s ongoing occupation of Georgia’s Abkhazia and Tskhivali (South Ossetia) regions.

Within the scope of the visit to Strasbourg, more than 17 meetings were held in the European Parliament, in which Vakhtang Makharoblishvili, Georgia's Ambassador to the EU, also participated.
