Georgian PM arrives in landslide-affected village in Adjara region

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Saturday got acquainted with the disaster clean-up operations in Pirveli Maisi village in Keda municipality of Adjara region, after a landslide killed two on Tuesday.

 

 

Temur Baramidze, a Junior Inspector of the Keda District Division of the Adjara Police Department, died at his home in the village of Tsoniari after it was hit by a landslide, while a 60-year-old woman whose house was hit by an avalanche in the village of Tkhilvani also became a victim of the natural disaster.

Kobakhidze met with the family members of the deceased police officer and once again expressed his condolences to them.

 

Along with the PM, Infrastructure Minister Irakli Karseladze, Environment Minister Otar Shamugia and Leri Barnabishvili, the Head of the Regional Liaison Department of the Government Administration, as well as Tornike Rizhvadze, the Chair of the Adjara regional Government and representatives of local authorities, visited the disaster-affected village.
