Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Thursday reaffirmed the Government’s  commitment to European and Euro-Atlantic integration aspirations at the European Political Community Summit in Budapest, the Ministry said.

At a working breakfast hosted by Peter Siarto, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, in Hungary’s capital city, the Georgian official emphasised European integration was the “choice of the Georgian people”, adding his Government would “continue to work actively and carry out relevant reforms to achieve the goal” for European Union accession.

Darchiashvili also underscored the Government  was a “loyal” and “important” partner of the bloc, and noted the importance of support of foreign partners for integration.

The Minister also discussed the parliamentary elections held in the country last month, characterising its  “peaceful” and “competitive” organisation and noting “positive assessments”  by international observers.

Darchiashvili extended his “special gratitude” to his Hungarian colleague and the country’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán for their visit to Georgia following the vote, noting it was  “extremely important during Hungary’s presidency of the Council of the European Union”.

Led by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, the Georgian delegation at the Summit also involves Levan Zhorzholiani, the Head of the Government Administration.
