Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Wednesday said the country’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze's participation in the European Political Community Summit in Hungary’s capital city of Budapest on Thursday was “very important".
In his remarks on the upcoming event, Darchiashvili highlighted the Summit, which will be attended by the leaders of the European Union member and candidate states, as a “very significant” format established at the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron for “bringing the politically associated countries closer” to the bloc.
The first discussion will be on economic security. Georgia's economic development is one of the main priorities for our country, and in this discussion, chaired by the German Chancellor, the Prime Minister will deliver a speech”, the Foreign Minister said.
We believe the participation in this kind of platform is very important to us, since the main line of our country’s foreign policy priority is European integration and along with the bilateral cooperation between Georgia and the EU, we use all opportunities for Georgia to successfully continue its European integration”, he emphasised.
Darchiashvili added the PM would also engage in a summary plenary session, where the participant leaders would together summarise the discussions of the session.
The Head of the Georgian Government will take part in the Summit together with a Georgian delegation involving Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and the Head of the Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani.
