Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Wednesday said Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze would have the opportunity to discuss challenges of the European Union and “opportunities” his country was providing to the “European family” at the European Political Community Summit on Thursday in the United Kingdom.
In his remarks over the Summit, Darchiashvili noted about 50 leaders were participating in the event and the PM would have a “good opportunity” to communicate with his counterparts.
This platform was created at the initiative of [the French] President Macron, and it is an additional platform, opportunity and mechanism for countries that aspire to integrate into the European Union to discuss the challenges that the European Union faces in general, as well as the opportunities that can be used for these countries”, he said.
The top Georgian diplomat noted a delegation from Georgia was participating in the format for the first time since the country was granted the EU membership candidate status.
He further added that Kobakhidze would have “specific messages” regarding “capabilities of our country, its role and the benefits that Georgia can bring to the European Union”.
“There will be discussions on all current topics, including Ukraine, migration issues and the enlargement of the European Union”, he concluded.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will host leaders of 50 countries at the Blenheim Palace in Woodstock for the Summit.
