The slogan of the ruling Georgian Dream party for the parliamentary elections scheduled in October will be “towards Europe only with peace, dignity and prosperity”, the country’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said on Tuesday at the opening of the GD party’s election campaign and new central office.
Kobakhidze added “dignity brings peace, peace brings prosperity, and prosperity brings the country's European future”.
“Despite the most difficult challenges, the country has maintained continuous peace for 12 years, which requires particular attention in the future. The choice has never been easier than it is today. A voter should decide, [he or she] prefers war or peace, prefers slavish or dignified attitude towards external forces, chooses liberal Bolshevism or traditional values, chooses the dark past or the European future of united Georgia”, he noted.
Kobakhidze also emphasised that owing to the “unwavering support” of the Georgian people, the ruling Georgian Dream party had been able to win eight elections in 12 years, adding “despite numerous challenges, the country has maintained continuous peace for these years, which needs special care in the future”.
He also claimed the GD party was not going to “lose” any elections for at least another 12 years.
The head of the Government highlighted the country’s “achievements” during the rule of his party, adding the 2012 parliamentary elections had brought a “democratic and economic transition” to Georgia.
Kobakhidze also expressed gratitude to Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder and the Honorary Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream, saying the “removal” of the agents and its authoritarian rule from the Government after the win of Ivanishvili’s coalition in the 2012 parliamentary elections, was a “decisive victory” for the country.
