Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Sunday extended his congratulations to Irakli Kobakhidze, the Prime Minister of Georgia, following the recent electoral victory of the Georgian Dream ruling party in Saturday's Parliamentary elections, hailing the “citizens’ support for stability and traditional values”.
Dear Mr. Prime Minister, I sincerely congratulate you on the results of the Parliamentary elections held in Georgia and the victory of the leading political force of your country”, Aliyev wrote in his statement, expressing his belief the election outcomes would “bolster Georgia's comprehensive development and prosperity”.
Aliyev also highlighted the importance of the election results for “enhancing the relationship” between Azerbaijan and Georgia, saying “I believe that the results of the elections will contribute to the sustainable development of Azerbaijan-Georgia interstate relations, which is dictated by the will of our peoples who have historically lived in conditions of friendship, brotherhood, and good neighborliness”.
To “further strengthen political ties”, Aliyev invited Kobakhidze to make an official visit to Azerbaijan at a “mutually convenient time”.
I am sure that for the sake of the well-being of our countries and peoples, we will continue to make joint efforts to strengthen our strategic partnership and successfully continue bilateral and multilateral mutually beneficial activities”, the official noted.
According to the latest data from Georgia’s election administration, the GD party has secured 54 percent of the vote, with over 99 percent of ballots counted.
