Georgian deputy interior ministers Ioseb Chelidze and Aleksandre Darakhvelidze opened a new office for the Emergency Management Service in the country’s western town of Oni, in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region, the Ministry said on Thursday.

The body said the opening event featured Temur Mgebrishvili, the Head of the Service, Parmen Margvelidze, the State Representative in Racha-Lechkhumi-Kvemo Svaneti, as well as representatives of the local Government and the Service.

Constructed to modern standards, the new facility is equipped with the latest technology, Ministrry said, with work and rest rooms, a dedicated training space, a training room, and a gym for employees.

An operational management centre has also been established within the building, where messages received by the Service in the Racha region will be monitored and sent to fire and rescue teams.
