Georgian PM congratulates students on new academic year, unveils plans for “modern” school infrastructure

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday congratulated students and teachers on the start of the new academic year and announced plans to improve school infrastructure.

Emphasising the importance of a “successful” education as the “groundwork for achievement in life”, Kobakhidze wished students success in their studies and acknowledged the role of teachers in shaping the educational experience.

In an effort to improve the educational environment, the Prime Minister pledged 60 public schools would see works for their rehabilitation “fully completed by September-October”, while the construction and renovation of about 100 schools would be completed by the end of the year.

Kobakhidze highlighted the Government’s “active” work to improve school infrastructure in the country.

As a result, over 28,000 students are now attending modernised schools that meet international standards”, he said.

The Prime Minister added construction of 15 public schools and “complete rehabilitation” of 23 schools would commence in the fall, with a commitment to equipping “all relevant schools” in accordance with “modern standards”.
