Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Sunday highlighted the importance of developing the country's education system, particularly higher education and infrastructure, in a meeting with participants of the Shaori Youth Camp in Georgia’s western region of Racha.
“The development of the educational system is one of our top priorities, and we have serious plans in this regard. We will devote special attention to a university education, including the improvement of its infrastructure”, Kobakhidze noted.
The PM emphasised the need for youth engagement in the existing and future initiatives and projects directly related to them, the Government Administration said.
“We had a very good precedent when a paid internship was developed for graduates. We held meetings with young people and heard their opinions on how this programme should be formed, which allowed us to refine it. This year, for the first time, such a large-scale paid internship programme will be implemented, allowing 3,500 graduates to undergo paid internships in public service at both local and central government levels,” he pointed out.
This year, with the financial support of the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, around 4,500 participants were hosted in youth camps, where young people had the opportunity to participate in various educational and sports activities and meetings with trainings on various topics.
The meeting was conducted in a question and answer format, which was also attended by the Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, and Education Minister Giorgi Amilakhvari, as well as the Parliament members and representatives of the local authorities.
