Georgian Education Minister Giorgi Amilakhvari on Saturday stated the education and development of “our children” were crucial for the establishment of a “free and strong” European state, in his comments on International Children’s Day.
The Minister congratulated the Day to “all children”, their parents, teachers and “all those" involved in “shaping the future generations”, the Education Ministry said.
Children are the future of our country. Every child deserves a peaceful, carefree, and joyful life. Therefore, our top priority is to support children's development and create suitable conditions for each of them. I am personally committed to ensuring an inclusive, healthy, and peaceful educational environment for all children in Georgia”, he noted.
Amilakhvari stressed the Government was “continuously” implementing various projects and initiatives to achieve this goal.
I am confident that through collaborative efforts, we will attain the desired outcomes and the new generation will bring great success to Georgia”, he noted.
The Georgian capital city of Tbilisi marks International Children’s Day with a special programme and entertaining activities today. The main programme will take place in Dedaena Park and will include a concert hosted by the children's musical project Ranina, as well as puppet and finger theatres, a photo zone and sports and entertainment events at different locations across the city.
International Children’s Day has been marked since 1925 when it was founded in Geneva during the World Conference on Child Welfare.
